Academic Tutoring

We specialize in working with Learning Disabled, Dyslexic, Attention Deficit Disorder children and teens on pre reading, phonics, reading, math, writing and grammar, spelling, study and organizational skills. Instructional materials and methods are research-based “best practices”. Work is individualized to help students be successful at their own level and reach their potential. The emphasis of the tutoring process is to build the individual skills needed for success.

Mental Health Counseling

Mary specializes in working with children, adolescents, adults, parents and families on social, emotional, behavioral and learning difficulties. The goal is to assist clients in finding useful solutions to problems. This process includes acquiring and practicing new skills, learning new ways of thinking and acquiring more effective ways of coping.

Educational Consulting

When children are struggling in school, parents often need support and advice for setting appropriate educational plans that focus on the whole child. We work with families and children on the following:

• Learning Disabilities
• Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
• Autism/Aspergers
• Oppositional Defiant Disorder
• Bipolar Disorder
• Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Academic Testing and Assessment

Individual educational testing services are provided for children and teens. Tests can determine if a Learning Disability/Dyslexia is present and/or if a child is gifted. Tests can show a child’s areas of strength as well as areas that need reinforcement. A consultation meeting is held with parents to review test scores and recommend a program of instruction.
